BridgeNet, Connecting New West
In an Intelligent Community, broadband infrastructure is leveraged to maximize positive economic and social implications, widening the possibility of thoughtful growth, job creation, inclusion, and livability. Intelligent Communities apply information and communication technology to improve citizen health, reduce costs and build competitive economies. They create a climate for innovation and enable businesses, institutions and citizens to progress.
As part of the Intelligent City Initiative, City of New Westminster has commissioned DCD to assist and guide branding of the city’s Fibre Optic network. BridgeNet is an open-access fibre network, owned by the City of New Westminster, and will lay the groundwork towards creating a sustainable climate of innovation, growth and inclusion.
Our branding process included meeting with key stakeholders to define the brand values and establish key brand positioning. Through an intensive naming and visual identity creation process, city council endorsed the name, tagline and the logo design. Available in September 2016, BridgeNet provides residents and businesses in New Westminster one gigabit per second of internet speed, which is 40 times faster than the conventional DSL connection.
